Admissions & Financial Information
Carolina House accepts patients who meet the following admissions criteria:
- Ambulatory women, ages 17 and older
- Meet criteria for a DSM IV TR eating disorders diagnosis
- Willing to voluntarily enter treatment
- Reasonably medically stable
We are unable to admit patients who have active psychosis or active suicidal ideation; however, passive suicidal ideation is not a barrier to admission.
Carolina House asks that patients complete a thorough admission pre-test as well an eating disorder inventory. We will refer patients with substance abuse treatment needs to appropriate therapeutic service providers.
Carolina House is CARF-accredited and adheres to the APA (American Psychiatric Association) Levels of Care Guidelines for the Treatment of Patients with Eating Disorders. We accept patients appropriate for residential care, and will make referrals based on necessary criteria if the residential level of care needs change during the course of treatment. We make every effort to locate appropriate, affordable, and geographically reasonable referrals.
Carolina House works with each patient’s insurance provider(s) and bills insurance directly for our services when possible. We also accept self-paying patients but are unable to accept Medicare, Medicaid or state/county funding.
