McKenzie Bossert received my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a double concentration in body-centered therapy and marriage and family therapy from Appalachian State University in 2016. Post-graduation, McKenzie has earned an Undergraduate Certificate in General Horticulture from North Carolina State University and a Certificate in Horticultural Therapy from the Horticultural Therapy Institute. McKenzie is a National Certified Counselor (#829983) and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (#12828). McKenzie has experience providing community-based, outpatient, and residential treatment. McKenzie has worked with adults with eating disorders; children, adolescents, and adults recovering from trauma; and individuals living with depression and anxiety.
McKenzie has- completed training in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), McKenzie is currently studying Embodied Recovery for Eating Disorders (ERED), and is in the process of becoming a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS).
McKenzie is a Health at Every Size aligned and LGBTQIA affirmative provider.
McKenzie’s therapeutic approach is eclectic and integrates elements from person-centered therapy, body-centered therapy, expressive arts therapy, therapeutic horticulture, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy.
